Bringing you up to SPEED!

By Greg Riley

March 23, 2020

It seems like we just spoke yesterday, and my how the world has changed since then.

I never heard the phrase "social-distancing" before two week ago, although some may claim I've been practicing it for years 🙂 Toilet paper hoarding? Who'd a thunk it a month ago.

Will trade for pristine '68 Camaro, only L78 big-block 4-speed cars considered 😉

I reluctantly cancelled my annual sojourn to Amelia Island. This is my annual fully self-indulgent time of automotive overload. My bride Ronnie has had a multitude of health conditions over the last two years and we have repeatedly been warned of how serious or perhaps fatal some sort of infection could be. Therefore, I cancelled. Yep, I'm still snuffling over this one, but I know it was the right thing to do. Hopefully they'll have me next year.

Thanks to our good Amelia friend Chris Brewer I can share a few tidbits with you later in the "broadcast" lol. Scroll down to read.

Groesbeck Grand-Prix

I've been asked to be the car show chairman of the premiere Groesbeck Grand-Prix. This is a Texas event styled on the Goodwood Festival of Speed to be held at historic Fort Parker labor day weekend. We'll have lots more detail shortly.

Updates on projects at GarageDLX

I try and complete one major car project each month. The last month I didn't get very much done. The engine is now in Cool Breeze, Herby's engine is coming together slowly, and a friend asked me to look into fuel delivery problems on their 1958 Chevy.

New engine installed in Cool Breeze and running!

Hopefully Herby's new engine runs as good as the block looks!

Not my usual thing, but I like new challenges

GarageDLX at the private collection of Mike Ames

Recently my old friend Mike Ames and I had a very surprising revelation. When I was but a wee spud of 20 I took care of the collection of Mike's late brother Eddie. Eddie was a wonderful creative man, with a wonderful collection of cars, and he was taken from us much to soon. I was devastated all those years ago when I heard of Eddie's passing, and never made the connection to his brother Mike until a few weeks ago.

Several months ago I was visiting a local exotic car dealer, and there sat on of Eddie's prize cars a Citreon SM still wearing the same license plates as when I last saw it over thirty years ago in his garage.

A short time ago, The Gentleman Racer (Mike Satterfield) and I had the chance to visit with Mike at his stunning collection. We'll have a full write-up on Mike and his cars in the near future.

Eddie Lee takes delivery of new $3Million Koenigsegg Regera from Park Place Premiere

Koenigsegg Dallas Delivers First Koenigsegg Regera to Eddie Lee. The $3 million Mega Grand Tourer is 1 of only 80 Worldwide. In the Swedish language Regera means "to reign" or "to rule" and this 1,500 horsepower hypercar will rule the road or track, rocketing effortlessly from 0-to-60 mph in 2.8 seconds… 0-to-249 mph in less than 20 seconds… making it the fastest-accelerating car in the world. All Koenigsegg chassis are consecutively number from 01 onward. The Lee's Regera is number 24 of 80… chassis number 168, which is a very fortunate set of numbers in Chinese culture. The number is believed to be lucky because in Cantonese it sounds similar to: "one path to prosperity." The number one is "one." Six represents "path." And eight sounds like "Prosperity." To commemorate this Koenigsegg made a specialized logo just for Lee's Regara.
